The high court will next month determine whether a woman accused of murdering her children will be put to her defence
Margarita waithaka,who is the prime suspect in the heinous murder of her 2 children a 3-year old boy and a 10-year girl Brian and Mercy,will know the fate on march 5when justice James muthiri of the high court in Vihiga makes his rulling
The witnesses included waithakas relatives among them her Father Wycliffe obola,and officers from the directorate bof criminal investigation officer Vincent omwami.A younger sister of the suspect also testified
The pre-trial began in December 2021 and the prosecution closed its case last month after calling more than 5 witnesses
Waithakas father recounted the trauma he underwent at the scene after viewing the mutilated body of her two grandchildren when the woman was trying to bury them In a shallow grave.
Wycliffe said that the subject subjected her two children to a painful death after they had returned home late
“When I arrived at the scene of the murder accompanied by my daughter and some neighbours we were horrified by the manner in which my grandchildren body had been burned”said Wycliffe
Ms mall told the suspect to ran to the police station to seek refuge since her life was in danger after commiting the act.
